SHS Scholarship Recipients
High Country Healthcare and Vail Summit Orthopedics awarded scholarships to graduating seniors at Summit High School on Monday, April 20, 2015 during the 29th Annual Local Scholarship Presentation. Rhonda Koehn, Chief Executive Officer of HCHC, represented the physicians and staff of both practices to present the scholarships.
Five scholarships were awarded to SHS students whose applications demonstrated academic achievement and a desire to pursue a healthcare career – specifically medical school. Their essays spoke of their passion to help others and to make a difference. Read More >>
SHS Career Fair
Kristen Kellogg, Clinical Assistant at High Country Healthcare in Silverthorne, discusses why she chose a medical career with Summit High School students. Kellogg spoke with more than 75 freshmen, sophomores and juniors during the SHS Career Fair held on Friday, April 17, 2015.
With an undergraduate degree in Biology, Kellogg is pursuing her Master’s degree and working at HCHC to continue her higher educational career. She has lived in Summit County for 2 years, volunteering with the Summit County Honduras project last year and in 2015.
During the career fair Kellogg shared her knowledge of the medical field, what she does on a daily basis at HCHC and taught the students how to check for vital signs using her stethoscope, a blood pressure cuff and pulse oximeter.
